A day dedicated to architectural photography, storytelling, and recognition at RELEASE [AEC] in Paris.

On October 20, 2026, Franco Casaccia joined Architizer in Conversation at RELEASE [AEC], held at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris, and was recognized as Architectural Photographer of the Year at the 2026 Architizer Vision Awards.

Together with architectural photographer Brad Feinknopf and Architizer Executive Editor Hannah Feniak, Franco took part in a conversation exploring the space between documentation and interpretation, and the role photographers play in shaping how architecture is seen, understood, and experienced.

At the center of the discussion was a fundamental question: How much of a building do we actually see, and how much of what we see is shaped by the photograph?

The conversation addressed the photographer's subjective reading of architecture, the importance of human presence, and the balance between remaining faithful to a building and developing a personal visual narrative.

The event also featured a keynote by Thomas Heatherwick and concluded with the first in-person Architizer Vision Awards ceremony, celebrating the architects, photographers, and visual storytellers redefining how architecture is represented and communicated.

Having previously been selected as a finalist, Casaccia's recognition as Architectural Photographer of the Year marks another milestone in his photographic practice, which approaches architecture through observation, interpretation, and the relationship between buildings and everyday life.
